Liene Bosquê: What Still Stands
In 2024, Miami-based visual artist and educator Liene Bosquê became the first participant in The Wolfsonian’s Creative Fellowship program, which supports artists drawing inspiration from the museum’s collection of art and design. Of focus in her research were architectural drawings and decorative elements from the Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, and Art Deco styles—many linked to bygone buildings.
Liene Bosquê: What Still Stands brings pieces from The Wolfsonian’s collection into conversation with some of the artist’s new work exploring how architectural legacies continue to shape the present, long after structures have changed or disappeared. The installation is presented in the Bridge Tender House (Josephine Baker Pavilion) outside the museum and on the 2nd floor—where original vault doors, relics of the building’s storage warehouse past, recall the site’s earlier use.
What Still Stands was organized by The Wolfsonian–FIU and supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Liene Bosquê received funding for this project from Corral & Cathers Artist Fund; The Ellies Awards, presented by Oolite Arts; and Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.
